As I sit here writing to you all on my last day in the States I am so excited for all that awaits me. It has been a long 16 years since I was last in Italy, and I am so looking forward to returning.
Though the place will be the same, I will be returning in a much different space as my goals and dreams have changed ‘just’ a bit since I was 25. My hope in this journey is to immerse myself into the real Italian culture and country, and soak up as much as I can of their old ways of living, cooking, and eating as possible.
In these next four weeks I will be spending my days in small Italian villages, shopping at local markets, assisting in an Italian butcher shop, learning the art of Italian bread making from a local baker, mastering the art of neapolitan pizza, visiting agriturismos, touring local farms (and of course vineyards), making pasta with some nonnas, attending a porcini festival, learning all about truffles, visiting with friends, and of course learning all about Italian cuisine by eating in local establishments! I am sure there is more, but I have to let the Universe unfold it for me while I am there!
So off I go tomorrow. I look forward to sharing so much of this with you all when I arrive back home in a month…but until then you can follow me on Facebook under Timothy DeMarco and as The Nurturing Hearth.
I also want to apologize for the quiet summer months on the blog- We decided to go with no internet for a while to see how it was. We enjoyed it…but also learned that I was not able to serve you that much. So when I return from Italy The Nurturing Hearth will be up and running again in full force.
Ciao and stay well my friends!
